Maria Kieslich: Chief Economist and Health Care Consultant.
Maria holds an MBA in Finance from the Booth School at the University of Chicago and a BA from the University of Vermont in Economics and Political Science. She also studied Foreign Policy at American University in DC and International Business at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. As an undergraduate, she was luckily enough to be chosen to represent the US to the International Youth Year celebration in Muscat, Oman.
Maria’s career started at the International Monetary Fund as a research assistant. After graduate school, she became a corporate, and then, international banker. She managed the banks’ relationships in Asia and joined former Massachusetts Governor Weld on his trade mission to Southeast Asia. When the banking sector in Boston consolidated, Maria leveraged her knowledge of the financial sector to switch industries to Fintech. First working in securitization, and then online insurance, she held management positions in strategy, marketing, project management and product development. She has been the COO for two startups, one in edtech and the other in charity online auctions. Maria has held both the PMP and ScrumMaster certificates. Most recently she is an expert writer on economics and commercial real estate for national firms.
Her community involvement includes service on the Lexington Communications Advisory Committee and Lexington Center Committee. She has also been on two non-profit boards, including Health Resources in Action, an organization focused on health equity program execution and innovation. Maria’s primary role was advising senior management on best business practices, appropriate reporting, and performance indicators.
Maria lives in Lexington, Massachusetts with my husband and occasionally, my grown daughter. A few of my favorite pastimes include writing small autobiographical humor pieces (a la James Thurber) and reading The Economist cover to cover every week.
