June 15, 2022: Kieslich Analytics published the “VT Long-Term Health Care Facilities Report“. The report was distributed to State and Federal Elected officials and State Department heads in hopes it will raise awareness and concern and prompt government action to address the mounting number of 65+ people who will need 3500 additional long-term care / mental health care beds by 2030 in Vermont.
This analysis was conducted to determine if additional facilities and services were needed, and if so, to suggest their location, quantity of beds, construction and operating cost, personnel requirements, and public sector initiatives to assist in the provisioning of these LTC facilities.
Facilities reviewed are Long-Term Health Care Facility Locational Demand Analysis for Vermont’s Long-Term Care (LTC) Facilities being: Assisted Living Residences (ALR), Residential Care Homes (RCH) and Nursing Homes (NH) and associated Memory Care Services.
The analysis revealed that by 2030:
- VT will have an additional 33,000 people, totaling 165,000, age 65+
- VT will need an additional 3500 Long-Term Care Beds, with 700 Dementia-Memory Care Beds and up to 30 additional LTC Facility Locations throughout the state.
- To insure current and future facility solvency, VT government needs to continually support Facility ACCS and ERC operating cost.
- Construction and Equipment Cost for new LTC Facilities of $1.23 to $2.05 Billion Dollars
- An additional LTC Operating Expenses of approx. $800 Million Dollars
- An additional 2600 personnel will be needed for these new LTC Facilities
